Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Is this a widget, or are you within the Phone app or the Contacts app? If it's a widget, are you sure it's a Contact widget or a Direct Dial widget? The latter is a one-touch widget that calls the number associated with that widget; the former should give you options of how to communicate with that contact when you initially touch it.

I have the same problem with a Samsung Galaxy S5. When I go to call settings, I don't see a way to disable the direct call of favorites. Does anyone have a way to prevent direct calling of favorites?
