Was almost fully charged and working on the battery fine. Suddenly the screen went black and the white lettering came up as though it was trying to start back up, but never did.
I pressed the power button and the same thing happened. I then held the power button till it showed the white lettering. I kept the power button held and the screen went black and then a few seconds later the lettering came back but no start up! As long as i held the power button it would cycle over and over again but would not start.
I talked to samsung and did all the tests that they asked for and they said i would have to send the unit in for service along with $200 dollars!
    Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! What white lettering--the welcome boot screen?

It sounds like something in the hardware might have failed. That Tab 2 is a fairly old device, and components can fail with time. You probably don't have many other alternatives besides getting a new device (which is probably a better value, since you can find good devices that are much more up to date for around $200).
