Why is my galaxy s6 active not charging properly?

I've had my galaxy s6 active for about two weeks. The other day the battery life dropped suddenly according to the icon and my battery eventually died. When I tried to charge it the charge icon came up but it read 1% for several hours. When I looked at it the next morning it read 1% but when I disconnected it from the charger it read 100%. This has happened on several occasions now and I'm wondering what, if anything I can do to fix it?

Welcome to Android Central! If it isn't too late, I'd suggest bringing it back to the store and seeing if you can get a replacement. 2 weeks is the usual return window, so don't waste any time.
