Hey there, got the same issue.
Phone is a scold as ice (and wasn't even running an App when it happened) and now claims it's overheating and won't launch any app because of it.
As it's only a month old or so, I will be dropping it at my local store for an exchange.
Anyone heard about such an issue ?

The temperature is measured at the CPU - if that overheats, the phone is a pocket warmer. If the heat sink isn't firmly connected to the chip (most phones are pretty much all on one chip), the heat stays in the chip and never gets dissipated out to the world - which is what makes the phone feel warm when it's working. It's covered under the warranty. (It's the real world - sometimes things get made badly. That's what warranties are for.)
