Why System Data item in internal storage too big?

A

AC Question

On my LG G4c lollipop android, size of System Data is 4.44 GB under miscellaneous. Why is it so large and how can it be reduced?

Also, how much storage an ideal lollipop system should take.

thanks

Welcome to AC.

The Operating System is an essential part of the phone, and 4.44GB is normal. Removing it to make more storage space would be rather like removing the engine of a car to save weight and reduce fuel consumption. :)
The precise OS storage requirement varies with different devices.

Thanks belodion!
If that kind of size is normal it's not very efficient then. I'm not sure but have a feeling that in Lollipop size of system files keeps growing as in this case it has taken up more than half of 8gb built in memory.

A similar phone on KitKat with 4gb built in has only 53 MB 'Miscellaneous' folder.

It just doesn't make sense. How much one android version can be different from another.

thanks!
