Welcome to Android Central! Verizon uses CDMA for its voice network (unless you're using Voice over LTE, but I doubt that old phone is capable). That phone is GSM only, so you won't be able to use it on Verizon for voice calls. It can probably access the web over LTE, though, but that's not for voice calls.
