Decryption or Factory Reset

[AC Question]

I orderded a Android KitKat 4.4 Tablet for my son off of ebay. I keep having this message saying Type password to decrypt storage. What does it mean and what do I do to take care of it. How do I do a factory reset if I can't get passed the message. Please Help Please

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet? Someone encrypted the device, and didn't bother to do a factory reset prior to selling it to you. If the tablet doesn't have an easy way to do a hardware button factory reset, then you should probably contact the seller and ask them to do something about this (either tell you the PIN or give you a refund). If the seller refuses, complain to eBay, which is good about protecting the buyer.
