Why can my husband and I not always receive each other's texts?

My husband and I both have Android Optimus Fuel phones and we seem to be having trouble receiving each other's texts. My mother has the same phone, but does not have quite as many problems with it. The problem is daily, but intermitent.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you asked your carrier about this problem? It might be a network issue.
