How to transfer data from one LG Android phone to another?

Hey all. My father in law is switching phones from an LG G2 to an LG G3 and I am trying to help him with activation and transfer of contacts, photos and apps (if possible) from the old phone to the new. What is the best method for accomplishing this? I'm an iPhone user so I'm not that well versed in how the data sync for the android phones works.

Any help you can offer would be great!

There's a third party app by the name Shareit which is available on play store.
It has a feature that says Cloneit
It is to transfer the contents of one phone to another. It might be able to help you out.

Also, if both phones have Smart Share, you could use that. Look in Settings, Share & Connect.
