PLEASE HELP!! I can't remember my password for my HTC One M8, how can I get around this?

I've tried other forums and cannot find the answer I need, there is nothing that shows up asking if I have forgotten my password, no matter how many times I type the wrong one in. I really don't want to reset my phone because I have tons of pics and videos of my kids on there and don't want to lose them! Thanks in advance for any and all help, much appreciated!!

Log in to Android Device Manager using your Google account details and change your security details from there.

Thank you, I just tried it and it won't recognize the new password either??? It will ring my phone, when I send a message to the lock screen it shows up and yet the new password that I put in to it won't work, it says wrong password still. I have tried restarting my phone too.
