How long should encryption of Nexus 7 take?

[AC Question]

I am running a Nexus 7 (2012) on Lollipop 5.1, and am trying to encrypt it.

So far it has been running for over 24 hours! Is this in any way reasonable? I don't have loads of data on it, except for maps for my Sygic route planner app.

If I power it off before it finishes, am I likely to lose data and have to do a factory reset?

I'm now approaching 8 hours into the encryption process on my Nexus 7.

Did your encryption every complete?
