Why is there a password needed to reset my phone?

[AC Question]

I've got this old Samsung Galaxy txt laying around and I need it but I forgot my passcode so I had to reset it. So I pressed lock button+volume down+ home button but now it's asking me a password and I don't know it (I tried a lot). I was wondering if there's something else I can try?

Welcome to Android Central! The Gravity TXT (not Galaxy) is not an Android device: Samsung Gravity TXT T379 - Full phone specifications. Not sure if anyone here will be able to help. You could try contacting Samsung or the carrier.
