Why is my phone battery getting hot and draining extremely fast: have to charge 2-3 times a day?

A

AC Question

My phone is at least 5 years old, AT&T Pantech, it has worked pretty well except for signal lost out in country. It has just been in the past few weeks that it has began getting hot and hotter. I cool it down by shutting off but I have health issues and need to have it on especially where I live. I do have quite a lot of data with my online business but it has worked well up until now. What can I do?

Hello. Welcome to Android Central.

The battery has probably reached its limit. Check if AT&T can replace or supply another battery.

Try the GSam app to monitor it. Also try to charge it from around 50% to 95+.
There is less resistance and therefore less heat generated at mid level.
If the battery is removable check if there is a bulge on it by trying to spin it on a flat surface.

Stick around for others with better advice. I hope you can get it sorted or are able to consider a new device.
Very low money will get you a far superior device now, even if your usage and needs are low, but there are some poor choices out there. Check here for model advice.
