Can you share a microsoft exchange calander on an andriod phone without sharing emails?

I am trying to share my calendar with my boyfriend (we both have HTC One M8 phones which both run android), however when I add him as an account I can still access his emails, even when I untick the box which says about syncing emails. I just wondered if it is possible to do this without syncing the emails too? Thanks!!
