trying to add new APN; menu button doesn't give 'add' option

My wife has a new Galaxy A3. I am trying to configure a new APN for her, following the instructions that came with the SIM. But, when I press 'menu' whilst on the APN list screen I want to get an option to 'add new APN', but instead it gives a recently visited screens type function. How can I get the 'add new APN' option? Thanks!

That's up to the carrier - if they removed that option you can't 'put it back'. You can try some of the free APN editor apps from the Play Store - no guarantee, but some of them may work.
