Adding school to gmail on note 4..any tips?

i have been trying to add my .edu email to my phone...went though settings etc...keep getting no response from server...the email is actually a gmail account, no longer on school server..I think i may have to enter manually but i have had no help from help desk at school. Can anyone give some tips, etc

The school is buying space on a Google VPS or shared hosting? That's the only way you'll get an .edu address on a Google server. Google's normal email addresses are @gmail.com.

Find out whether it's a POP3 or IMAP account, what ports it's using, what encryption, the login type, the SMTP and either POP3 or IMAP addresses. Without those, you can't set it up. (The email app should get those automatically once you put in your login and password for your account.)

Try to connect your computer's email program to that .edu server. If you can't, it's probably a problem with the way the server is set up.
