Note 2 screen is totally black, WHY?

My Samsung Note 2 is not quite 2 years old and is suddenly not displaying any screen.
It will make the sounds for notifications and even has the notify light blinking, but no screen display. I tried taking the battery out and putting it back, NOTHING. Any ideas on how to repair it??? or is it shot??

Did you happen to drop it or anything? I would take it to a repair shop and have them take a look.
