How do I clear a voicemail notification, when there are no voicemails?

I got the Note Edge yesterday. Since last night I have not been able to clear the voicemail notification symbol.
I have listened to & cleared all voicemail, when I call voicemail it says it is empty.
I have cleared the cache & restarted the phone.
I saw someplace for another phone to have someone call, leave a message and when you clear that one...it will clear the symbol...it did not!

Any help with this??
The voicemail version is: T.6.0.1.22

Welcome to Android Central! I've had this happen occasionally, both on T-Mobile on my cell and on Xfinity on my landline. I think it's an issue with the network. Try calling your carrier and asking them if they can do anything to clear it out.
