Do the battery management apps really help?

A

AC Question

Do any of the battery management apps (like Battery Doctor) really do anything? Or are they a purely psychological app?

So-called 'battery savers' are a waste of time. They're ineffective at best, sometimes using more power monitoring and switching than they save. At worst, they're just malware, taking over the device, throwing up nag ads and wasting power.

DU Battery Saver (or anything by DU) is one of the worst offenders. Absolutely horrible!

Read this thread. It's a bundle of information about DU Battery, other crapware, Android operation, etc. A lot can be learned from this one thread.

Greenify works differently than other battery savers and can be worthwhile in certain circumstances. But use it carefully and sparingly. I've never found much use for it and don't even have it installed.

Android since v1.0. Linux since 2001.
