Whenever I try to increase the volume, it increases the ringtone instead. This is kind of a problem to me since I have already deactivated my S4, so there aren't many uses for the ringtone anymore. When I play a game with sound or listen to a song, it increases the volume when I press the volume key, but when I stop playing, it increases the ringtone instead of the volume. Please help!

Increase the volume of what, doing what exactly?

When you press the volume up key of any device when idle it shows the ringtone volume slider.

I mean, when I try to increase the volume for media and songs just in case I'd like to listen to something later, it still increases the ringtone instead.

If I understand you, I would go into Settings - Sounds and increase the Media slider (or whatever Samsung calls it - I no longer have one).

The Volume buttons default to ring volume with no media.
