I've been to 2 different phone shops and have been informed that this is a hardware problem and not a software one. As soon as the battery is placed in the phone it turns on and shows the samsung logo then the screen goes black and it repeats this loop (probably would until battery dies) is there a way to fix this at home? Ive tried the reset with all 3 buttons. Nothings working at all. Please help!

If a factory reset didn't work then it could possibly be something wrong hardware wise. Did they tell you what was wrong hardware wise?

Well let's see whether WE can narrow it down a bit. A faulty power switch, which is under the Power button? A battery in dubious condition? Ask them whether they think it may be either of those.

We have a resident ex-repairer here, who if he happens to pass by, may be able to offer a tentative diagnosis. But £40 isn't an expensive repair bill, unless the fault is very easily fixed.
