Linking my macbook pro running X10 Mountain Lion to my Samsung S5

My Macbook Pro running X10 Mountain Lion will not recognize my Samsun S5 when it's plugged in via an official Samsung USB cord. Need to move some pictures and movies from this phone to the Mac. Tried Android File Transfer but this does not works. It may work for the S3 but not the S5.

Honestly, it is such a hassle for business like this, which is the reason that I use Airdroid, a free program that allows you to access your phone, and transfer files via your computer. I highly recommend using this software and plus, its free!
