How do I synch my calendar only when I want it to synch?

If I add something to one of my calendars how do I sync it without having it set on a set synch schedule?

In Settings > Accounts > Google > Select your account > Disable calendar sync. Then it will only sync when you open the calendar, tap Menu (3 dots upper right) and select Refresh.
