New Android phone, won't get contacts from Google (won't sync)

I got a new Android phone (Galaxy S6). I have all my contacts on Google, and am trying to sync them down to the new phone. The calendar and mail sync'd down fine. But the contacts won't go to my phone.

In Contacts, in More-Settings, it is set to display my GMail account contacts. Yet, nothing appears on the phone. How do I get the contacts to go from my Google account (where I can see them on the web), to the new phone, just like the calendar did? What might I be missing here?
