Do I need 4G for my Galaxy S5

Hi there. I'm trying to find a tariff for a Galaxy S5 I've just bought. When speaking to one phone provider, I told them I'm not bothered about 4G, but the advisor said that the "S5 requires 4G" to work to its potential. Is that true? Do I need to have 4G with the phone for it to work as it should?

Welcome to AC.

I don't see how. Most of the time I have no access to 4G signal and all my phones run good, including those capable of 4G.
I'll check with some friends though.

The s5 doesn't require 4g to operate but the carrier might require you to get a 4g plan for the device. I am not sure where you are but in the states, the s5 will require a data plan on most carriers.
