Android processes

AC Question

Even when some apps are closed and not running in the foreground, they have an active process and sometimes no running service.

How can they be in the running proccesses instead of cached background proccesses?

For example the camera app on my phone says: 1 process, 0 services

The app is not open. What is this process doing, does it benefit it any way?

Can anyone explain this to me?

Its possible some of the built in apps and other apps have hooks into the OS waiting to be called so they can quickly be opened. The camera for one is always readily available since its part of the OS and any custom work the OEM has done.
