Tablet is unplugged but it still says it's charging, why is it doing this?

Tablet is unplugged but it still says it's charging

The HDMI port in my tablet is right next to the USB charger port, so I kind of "touched" the HDMI port with my charger in accident; the tablet went off and upon restarting it, it will say it's charging even when completely disconnected from every power source. I did a hard reset to no avail

I'm scared I have fried something inside, so please, help!

Either there's dirt in the charger port (you'll need a strong light and a good magnifying glass) or you DID fry something inside.
