Samsung Tablet S8.4: fingerprint capability not working and password not recognized

How can I re-start the tablet. For some reason the fingerprint capability does not appear in the screen and the table does not recognized the password. I have tried for hours and nothing is working.

Welcome to Android Central! Was the lockscreen set to fingerprint unlock, and it's asking you for your backup password? Are you sure you're entering the backup password you selected when you first set up the fingerprint lock?
