Why can't I use my keyboard to unlock my phone?

Cannot use my keyboard to unlock my phone

I was using my phone (HTC Desire 510) but it died so i immediately plugged it in and switched it on. When it turned on i could swipe up to unlock my phone but my keyboard wont come up so i cannt unlock my phone and i just dont know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! Not sure if this will help, but let it charge up significantly (i.e., for at least 4 hours) before trying to power on again.
