My son's sgh-i747 just quit. will only get 'SAMSUNG' and 'Galaxy SIII' then goes black. Any ideas?

Android 4.4.2
Was once rooted, not sure if still is after udates to OS
Will not boot into recovery mode using power, volume keys.
Not recognized by ANY program...I guess cuz it it off.

Any help? I have looked all over.

I just had the same problem; it would not go past the "SAMSUNG" Logo...
I had my Cellular Repair Store look at it and it is a common problem with Galaxy SIII and S4. This is not the fix all for this problem, it could be other things; battery, charger, circuit board, etc... this was my recent experience September 9-11, 2015
Replace/Repair the "Power Button", the power button has been damaged and to fix it requires some circuit soldering.
