I have a phone that has been in the rain a bit and has had the screen damaged pretty badly. Was going ok at first you could see a little bit of the icons down the bottom of it but after a little while of having it on you can only see a little bit of white. Needs new screen for sure but how do I know if it's going to work if the screen is replaced? You can turn it on and unlock it and if you push the volume up and down you can Still here the sound going up and down.

Sadly there isn't really a way to tell if it'll work without the screen being on. You could try drying the phone out for a couple of days, in a bag of rice. The dry rice will help soak up the moisture. After a couple of days turn the phone on, if you can tell that it has successfully powered up then replacing the screen should be the only thing you will need to do.
