Unplugging phone from PC, did I do it the right way?

Unpluging phone from PC

I just exported some photos from my LG Optimus phone to my PC using my USB cable provided by my phone. When the transfer was completed I clicked on the Icon to safely remove my USB cable but my phone was not listed. I went ahead and unplug the phone from the PC. The phone seems to be working fine. Is this the right thing to do.

Writing to external devices may be delayed- safely removing them tells Windows to finish the write before telling you to remove the device. reading from the device doesn't change anything on the device, so you can disconnect it at any time.

The last file transferred to the PC may not be complete, but the phone will be fine.
