Does CM Security actually work and more?

I created a question before asking if I accidently installed a virus, well the 'download' is still in my files. The logo looks like a wifi bar with a thermometer overlaying it. Anyone recognise this app? Anyway, I'm wondering if CM security actually works, as I have it installed but it says no viruses were found. I always think it looks fake but thought I'd ask the experts as I found android devices very confusing.

Welcome to Android Central! I generally don't trust CM (Cheetah Mobile), because they have a habit of throwing lots of adware into their apps. In your case, if you only downloaded the file, then just delete it. Malware can't install unless you install it yourself (i.e., it won't automatically install). So if the package is just sitting in your Downloads, it won't do anything unless you tap it. Just delete it.

If you're still interested in reputable antimalware apps, consider Malwarebytes and Lookout.
