Reboot Samsung Galaxy Tab SM-T700 from Download mode directly to Recovery?

I'm trying to flash TWRP to my SM-T700 and I can get the image flashed successfully, but any attempt to shut down the device ends up rebooting it and loading the stock Samsung firmware before I can get it to recovery mode. I've tried holding the power button on its own for a minute, and the power plus volume down buttons, and the power plus volume up, but the device only restarts when I hold power plus volume down plus home buttons and I can't seem to get it into Recovery before it boots normally. How can I get the device to either shut down or reboot directly from Download to Recovery?
