Why are my text message times wrong?

I live in Missouri for school and my boyfriend lives in Illinois. Lately I haven't been receiving his texts or calls on time. For example, if he texts me at 12:50, I might receive the text at 1:30, but the text still has 12:50 attached with it. The texts don't have the time I actually received it. Additionally, none of the missed calls appear in my call log. I have a Galaxy s5 and he has an iPhone. Can anyone help explain this?
