My phone goes to a lock screen in landscape, how do I fix this short of Master Reset?

I have an LG Volt, when using an app in landscape it will randomly show a small version of the "swipe to unlock" screen. I have a knock code set for my lock screen not a swipe, I have disabled screen lock and still get the same error. I have powercycled and removed the battery while phone is powered on. I really don't want to Master Reset my phone. Any thoughts?
