I receive Voicemails but the notifications stopped working. How can this be corrected?

I receive Voicemails, but the notifications stopped working. I have a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime - through Metro PCS. I get notifications for Email Messages, Text Messages, and Calendar events, but not Voicemail. I don't see visual or audio evidence of a New Voicemail. I have to play my voicemail to know if I have a new one or not. I do see a visual indication of a new Phone call on my Phone Folder, but nothing on Voicemail. How can this be corrected?
