Samsung smart switch incredibly slow?

Hey everyone, yesterday I got my new phone a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, I've been an iPhone user for 6 years but decided to make the swap.

I tried to run smart switch and move my stuff to the new phone. Which did a pretty patchy job but that's fine. But moving messages is taking forever. The phone has been displaying "Updating Messages" all night. (I started at 6pm its now 6am) and still only reads 12% complete. But was only at 10 or 11 when I went to sleep.

Why isn't it updating? Does the phone need to be unlocked, or connected to a PC or is it just really this slow?

I am observing the same. I am backing up my calender and the transfer rate is around 3kb/sec. It would take several days at that speed.
Any suggestions?
