I bought a Verizon Galaxy S5 from Best Buy early this year, i never activated the phone and started using a T-Mobile prepaid plan since I was only living in the US for a couple months.

I finally left the US and continued using the phone with the SIM card of the carrier in my country, everything worked fine (except for the non LTE network availability, but I already knew that was going to happen). However recently I wanted to upgrade the phone to Lollipop and found out i couldn't since the newtwork updates are somehow linked to the Verizon Wireless Network.

Is there another way to upgrade my phone to Android 5.0 or am I stuck in the Kit Kat version since I don't have access to a Verizon Network in my country?

    Thanks

Some carriers block updates like that, but you can try using Samsung Kies in your computer to see if that would 'detect' the update. If not, you could find the updated ROM and flash it yourself, if you're one to dabble in such things.
