How do I download apps to my internal storage instead of my SD card?

My phone is a HTC Incredible S and I want to download an app from the play store, it says I have insufficient memory but my internal storage has 200mb more than it needs to download the app. I removed the SD card and tried to download it then but it said it needed an SD card to download, so I assume my default download location is on my SD card. I have no room on my SD card to download this app and simply transfer it over.
How do I make my internal storage my default download location?
