How long should the clear Cache Partition take?

A

AC Question

My Moto X 2013 received the lolipop update and I have had nothing but issues. I can't see emails, send or receive texts, phone is extremely laggy, battery is awful, etc. I read to try clear Cache Partition, which I did, but my screen still shows:

qe 0/1
-- wiping cache...
Formatting /cache...

It has been on this screen for at least 10 minutes. Anything I can or should do?

Thanks.

Welcome.

The Nexus 5 is well-known for lengthy cache partition wipe times, but I don't know about lengthy times on other phones. The Nexus 4, for example, takes a few seconds.

I remember some users posting that it took almost 20 minutes to complete the wipe. Motorola strongly recommend to wipe the cache with your phone unplugged, most likely because heat issues. So make sure you've got at least 50% of battery left before you start.
