When I opened a page on Chrome (I searched it through Google). It automatically downloaded a weird file with jumbled up letters. I accidently opened it and it automatically opened with VLC player. It would not play. I deleted it from my download list. I run scans with Avast and Avira but nothing malicious showed up. I'm still paranoid that my information could be compromised.

The forum site itself looks normal (it's the myptsd site). Please tell me what to do.

Welcome to Android Central! It's doubtful that it was malicious. Malware generally wants to install itself on your device, not get played as a media file. What happens if you open that site on a computer browser?
