Will an international unlocked Galaxy 6 GSM work in Korea?

A

AC Question

My phone broke so I'm trying to purchase a phone that will work both in the US and in Korea. The phone I'm considering says 'international version', 'unlocked' and 4G LTE GSM. But I'm not sure if that will guarantee 4G in both countries.

If it is international unlocked, would I be able to get 4G in Korea, regardless of the frequency band?

Below are the frequency bands in Korea. (SKT, KT, U+ are the carriers, please ignore)

2G GSM : 800(SKT), 1800(KT, U+)
3G WCDMA : 2100 (SK, KT)
4G LTE
KT 900/1800Mhz
SK Telecom 850/1800Mhz
U+ 850/2100/2600Mhz

If my question seems confusing, I apologize; I don't understand how the frequency band stuff works..simply put
1. How can I get 4G in both countries without switching from T-mobile to Verizon(or another (W)CDMA carrier)?
2. If I get a (W)CDMA smartphone, will I at least be able to use 4G in Korea?
3. What does 'international version' and 'unlocked' mean? Does it have nothing to do with GSM/CDMA, 4G availability?

Thank you.
