My Samsung Galaxy S3 phone keeps restarting by itself, what's wrong?

I'm not sure what exactly is the problem with my phone. It just suddenly restarted by itself, and I'll be able to use my phone for at least a minute. It will then restart itself again, with the process happening continuously. Also, a message from one of my friends keeps sending over and over again. Sometimes when it restarts, the touch screen is unresponsive and will not work. I've taken the battery out and put it back in, and that doesn't help. The battery does charge, and it does not become hot. I have noticed that for the past two months before this has happened, the touch screen will continue to freeze and become unresponsive. Please help me, thank you.
