Words With Friends data usage?

I just noticed my 2nd highest data-using app is Words With Friends, second only to Google Maps for GPS. I only play a couple words a day, if that. It's higher than Facebook which I am browsing constantly with pictures and videos.

Why on earth is Words (which is not downloading videos and pictures) using more data than Facebook when I use Facebook far more frequently.

I have even paid for Ad-Free Words With Friends, so it shouldn't be downloading new ads either.

Welcome back! Games like that often access the web frequently, to do things like check for any friends playing. I doubt there are any settings you can adjust, but you can open the game, go to its menu, and see if there's anything you can adjust from that standpoint.

Otherwise, go to Settings>Data Usage, select Words with Friends, and Restrict Background Data.
