Samsung Galaxy Core slow camera shutter speed

The camera shutter speed is unbearably slow on my Samsung Galaxy Core. I have read posts that turning the picture stabilization off on the Galaxy S5 speeds it up, but the Core doesn't have this in the camera settings. Can anyone make any suggestions on how to speed it up? Thanks!

My Wife has exactly the same issue. I've tried all of the settings, but nothing seems to change it.

The slow shutter speed renders the camera useless because by the time it actually takes a picture the moment you were trying to capture is gone.

I tried downloading another camera app, but this didn't work either.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
