Why will my tablet not charge?

[AC Question]

I recently received the galaxy tab A as a gift, after a few weeks, whenever I plug it in there is a lightning bolt with a red X over it on the battery symbol. I have tried un-plugging and re-plugging it back in, and that fix worked for a few charges, then stopped. Now I have to turn it completely off to charge it, which is annoying because then I don't get notifications. Please help?

Welcome to the forums. I would try a different charger and cable and leave it plugged in for a few hours.
