How do I move apps to SD card on ZTE Zephyr?

I have tried several apps from the Google Play that claim to be able to move apps from internal memory to SD card on an Android Kit Kat device but none of them worked. From what I understand the device has to be rooted. I don't know how to do that and I hear it could damage your phone. Does anyone know how or if app. can be moved to the SD card on the ZTE Zephyr with Android Kit Kat 4.4.4.
