Why is the sound (not in-call) on my Samsung S4 Mini suddenly lower?

Suddenly the volume was significantly lower. It happened a few days ago, without doing any update. All volume settings are on max. In-call volume is the same, but the ringtone and all other feedback sounds are very low. The main problem is the ringtone and the text message tone, because sometimes I don't hear the phone. I can't find anybody else having the same problem when I search the web.

Welcome to Android Central! Is the volume normal when using wireless/Bluetooth headphones or speakers? I would wonder if the built-in speaker is damaged, or perhaps blocked by a lot of lint in the grille.

I am having the same problem with my MotoX. never had a problem until this week.
