I had my tablet for about 4 or 5 months and it worked perfectly until one day the sound is gone! Its not muted or anything I can hear it fine with my headphones and now that sound is getting lower and lower. Its turned up, I factory reset it and nothings working. Please, please help. It is my life and soul in rectangular form.

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet? Is the volume normal through Bluetooth headphones? If it's just the main speaker, I'd suspect that it failed. But if the wired headphones are also losing sound, there may be something wrong on the motherboard.

Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.

If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem.

Its an android 4.4 KitKat. I tried different headphones and it works perfectly but without the headphones I still can't hear anything. It's my main speaker I have a problem with.

What's the exact brand and model? Is it a no-name tablet direct from China? If so, I wouldn't be surprised if the main speaker just plain failed. Hardware and software defects will be more common with those types of devices.
